yes I really use …
yes I really use picture control settings they are one of the best parts about the d300 and d700 because of the great color you can get. I switch my setting all the time. 10.5mm fisheye is not a wide angle lens, it heavily distorts the picture to make it look circular. It is cool but not realistic for wide angle photography.

You mentioned …
You mentioned having to drill down to picture setting on the D300; this pointed out something that I didnt realize got dropped on the D300 from the D200. My favorite menu option; Recent Settings. This was the best feature ever for quickly accessing your most commonly used settings that are unfortunately buried in a menu and not on a button or dial.

Do you really use the picture control settings?

Also, as mentioned above, Nikon has a DX 10.5 fisheye.

Great job on the review.

Id rather look out …
Id rather look out a picture window than press my face to a porthole and get 5% greater FOV ;)

…and yes a rock show w/ the D700 would well…it would ROCK. The D700 takes me back to when TMax 3200 came out. Id slap a 50 1.4 on and feel like I could shoot in total darkness.

I found your info …
I found your info to be the most helpful source I had seen online to help me decide which to buy. Thank you. I do hope that if you haven’t already, you’ll be able to purchase a Nikon D700. :)

And don’t throw …
And don’t throw away those low powered old manual Vivitar flashes.

With the speed of 1600 and up, those flash are more usefull than ever.

yes, the only …
yes, the only advantage the d90 is going to have over the 700 is the 720p “high definition” video mode. Which is not all that great in my opinion. However to echo QQQQcon , the 700 would be for someone experienced. The d90 would be better for you if you are just getting into photography

Nice comparison. …
Nice comparison. about the viewfinder. on the d700 it doesn’t show you 100% of the picture your taking. The d300 does. so it might be bigger and brighter but your still missing some of it. But oh how i would love to do some rock shows with it.

Of course you know. I didn’t mean to question your knowledge, it’s pretty obvious. And I agree with your intention to explain the issue.
Sorry if it sounded arrogant. I really appreciate your reviews!

I know that the focal distance doesn’t change I just didn’t want to explain that in the review.

Once again, a very informative review. Helped me a lot. But then again, I think I want all three of them, D90, D700 and keep my D300. To afford everything is another problem hehe.
Your statement about the focal lenses is nevertheless imprecise. Technically the focal distance doesn’t change. Just the area covered is smaller, so the subject looks closer. The way you put it is fair and clear enough for beginners to understand, but you can expect a lot of flak from the purists. :)
Thanks a lot!
